Please join the NYS Forum Business Innovation & Emerging Technology Work Group for this exciting event as they bring together agency business staff and IT professionals to discuss Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Presented by the NYS Office of Information Technology Services (ITS) GIS team and the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority’s (NYSERDA) Data Governance team, this event will highlight NYS datasets containing 9 million address points, 5.5 million property parcels, 130K miles of streets and terabytes of aerial and elevation data. Many NYS datasets have a spatial component and combined with the GIS datasets, can provide enhanced analytical insight for many agencies. If you think GIS doesn’t apply to your agency or authority, you’ll be pleasantly surprised to learn that it absolutely does!

The format will be an interview style discussion between Frank Winters of NYS ITS and Rebecca Gagnon of NYSERDA. Topics will include the resources available to NYS agencies, the use cases for GIS and sample solutions to agency problems solved with GIS. Real-world use cases will be discussed, and live demonstrations will be presented.
