The Information Security Workgroup presents:  Virtual Threat Defense Challenge

Registration for this event has closed.

Join Trend Micro’s security experts for a hands-on learning experience as you navigate a simulated cyberattack in real-time. Learn to “think like a hacker” and then respond to and defend valuable assets. Whether you are a novice or a skilled security professional, this experience will demonstrate how easy it is for hackers to exploit poorly protected systems.

Compete in teams alongside your peers to run cyberattacks in a controlled environment. Join this fun, action-packed session and learn to:
• Understand the tools and techniques used by hackers to gain entry into systems and networks
• Identify infrastructure security gaps
• Use advanced penetration testing and hacking tools
• Use tools to plan, create and execute an attack
• Plan and implement security measures

Each team will consist of 4 people. All efforts will be made to pair individuals from the same agency to the same team. Teams will work together in virtual breakout rooms and Trend Micro security experts will guide progress and drop in to answer questions. The team that earns the greatest number of points wins the challenge!

There is no limit to the number of teams that can participate. Registration will be open until February 8, 2021 so register early if you are interested. Please note the time commitment; this is a 4-hour on-line event. You will receive a registration confirmation from the NYS Forum; information to access the event and team assignments will be circulated the week of the challenge.

If you hold professional credentials this event may be ‘self reported’ to your credentialing organization to be considered for continuing professional education credit(s), if applicable. The NYS Forum cannot guarantee acceptance of this event towards your credentialing requirements.
