Event Streaming & Data Warehouse Modernization

The cloud, new databases (and types), stakeholder demand for real time insight, and changing citizen expectations have stretched the traditional on premise, star schema warehouse beyond its abilities. Purpose built technologies from independents and cloud vendors deliver real benefits in meeting these challenges. Connecting them to on premise sources, leveraging real time data, facilitating multi-cloud architecture, and leveraging the promise of data mesh are beyond the scope of the data store (or any single vendors).  This presentation will discuss how teams can broaden their scope of sources, while speeding their delivery of insights on their journey to modernize the data warehouse.

Guest Speaker:
Bob Liebowitz, Confluent

Bob leads Confluent's work with State governments in the eastern US. His career has been focussed on the intersection of the public sector and analytics for over 25 years. MarkLogic (XML database), Alation (data catalog), and Neo4j (graph database) all had their first deployments by state governments in projects he supported. Starting at Oracle and then Business Objects, Bob developed his understanding of the value the data warehouse can deliver to governments, and the challenges they face in implementing them.

As of February 10th Governor Hochul lifted indoor mask or vaccine requirements for businesses statewide.  Following the revised state policy, masks will be optional for NYS Forum events.  We will continue to arrange seating to observe 6 foot social distancing where possible.
