Forum Members Take Second in Area Wide Speech Contest

Congratulations to Frank Palmeri and Jim Hall for representing The NYS Forum’s Toastmasters Club at the 2021 Toastmasters Area 76 Speech Contest. Area 76 includes five clubs in the Albany area. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, the contest was conducted on a virtual platform this year. The categories were for Humorous Speech and International Speech, and both Frank and Jim finished in an impressive second place in their respective contests.

Frank's humorous speech , titled "We Need to Talk," was about his many adventures with "Testa," a cosmetology hair-styling practice head he borrowed from his daughter. Testa, which means "head" in Italian, was a great partner, and Frank hopes to work with her again in the future.

Jim’s presentation was titled “Surviving, and Thriving”. He spoke of what he has learned about dealing with post-COVID life, and offered some tips and tricks that are working for him and his friends and family.

The NYS Toastmasters Club was formed back in 2017 as part of the organization’s commitment to personal development. Their mission is to provide a supportive and positive learning experience in which members are empowered to develop communication and leadership skills, resulting in greater self-confidence and personal growth. The club conducts its regular meeting every 3rd & 5th Wednesday of each month from 4:00pm - 5:30pm at the NYS Forum Office. Adhering to Covid-19 safety protocols, club members have the option of attending in person or with a remote connection utilizing the Forum’s technology platform.

All NYS Forum members are welcome to attend meetings, meet the club members and experience how Toastmasters may benefit you!
