These educational events are focused on explaining the key elements of conducting IT procurements within NY State’s public sector.  The presentations are targeted to provide useful, practical information for individuals working in IT procurement related roles.

March 9, 2022, 3:30PM to 5:00PM

• Demystify the term “scope”
• Provide an understanding of the relationship between scope and requirements
• Speak to the challenges of defining scope
• Address the possible consequences of failing to define scope adequately
• Present ideas for overcoming the challenges of defining scope

Richard Green is NYSTEC’s Director of Service Delivery for Services and Solutions. He has more than 30 years of experience in a variety of industry sectors including information technology consulting, healthcare, and software development in for profit, non-profit and government settings. He has 20 years’ experience providing independent “trusted advisor” consulting services to New York government entities and extensive experience in New York State government procurement processes. He has provided expertise for dozens of procurement initiatives. 

Session 1 – COMPLETED - February 9, 2022, 3:30PM to 5:00PM – IT Procurement 101 Basics – Overview of the laws and regulations governing NYS public sector procurements, and processes / procedures surrounding the NYS procurement process

Session 3 – Targeted for April - Developing a Procurement / RFP- Key components of RFP development, outreach, vendor involvement, methodology.  Review of RFC’s, RFI’s, clarification of why it is essential to have strong project management of the RFP and evaluation process – ITS target speaker
