In March of 2021, the American Rescue Plan was passed. This bill, the third stimulus package in the space of a year, provided funding for many different segments. One of the largest parts of ARP was the $350 billion State and Local Fiscal Recovery Fund. The first half of SLFRF funds have been distributed to every state government, as well as most city and county governments. The remaining portion will be made available in early summer. With the final rule recently being approved, public bodies now have more flexibility to utilize their funds to improve technology infrastructure, expand virtual resources, and strengthen cybersecurity. During the presentation on American Rescue Plan we will discuss the process of funding, overview federal expectations, review eligible use of funds, and look at examples of how federal and state governments are currently using these funds.

Guest Presenter:

Curtiss Strietelmeier is a Public Sector Funding Strategist with CDWG, he works with state and local governments to provide clarity around federal funding opportunities. Dr. Strietelmeier has helped many institutions better understand how monies can be spent and provided insight on how to best budget funds to extend impact. He also writes for ConnectIT and StateTech Magazine, consults with organizations on technology initiatives and projects, and presents at conferences around the country.
